Janet M Dawson

A beautiful spirit is now with the angels. Janet Marie Dawson, 72, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; loving mother and wife, successful business woman, benefactor, and friend to all passed peacefully on October 28, 2018 after an extended illness. A native of Savannah, Georgia, she was born on May 6, 1946, the oldest of seven children to Richard and Frances Fogarty. After graduating from St. Vincent's Academy, her life changed forever in 1967 when she met the love of her life, Donald Dawson. The southern belle soon married and spent the next 52 years together, raising a family, building successful businesses, contributing to the community, and touring the world. Janet had a quick smile, generous heart, and kind word for all. She was the President of Dawson & Associates and active in many local charities. She loved decorating her homes in Lawrenceville and Hilton Head, traveling throughout Europe, and spending time with friends, but her greatest joy was caring for her children and grandchildren. From family trips to beach vacations, Janet put the fun in any event. The 4th of July parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners she and Don hosted for the neighborhood and family were the highlights of every year. She is survived by her loving husband Donald, daughter Debbie Wilkes (Joe), and son Donald Dawson (Michelle). Her youngest child Michelle, grandson Christopher, and her parents preceded her in death. Her extended family includes seven grandchildren, thirteen nieces and nephews, and six siblings, all who will miss her greatly. A viewing will be held for friends and family at Wages and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 4pm - 8pm. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 11am with interment to follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park.
