Janet Powers

Janet Powers of Tucker, age 34, died on April 18 as a result of a seizure and fall in her home. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, April 24 at 3:00 pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 600 Mountain View Drive, Stone Mountain. Janet was the daughter of Jim and Kathleen Powers of Tucker. Also surviving Janet are her sister, Rachel Dworaczyk and her husband , Lt. Col. Joseph Dworaczyk, and their two daughters, Hailee age 7 and Anna age 5. Janet was a graduate of St. Pius X High School as well as of Georgia State University BA and MSW. As a social worker she was employed by the State of Georgia working with the developmentally disabled and was currently working as a social worker with the Veterans Administration in Decatur. Always active in the Catholic Church, especially with the young adults, she also spent a year in Kingston, Jamaica working with the Mustard Seed Communities. Following the Mass of Resurrection on Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the family will be receiving condolences at a reception in the gymnasium of the church.
