Jean Earl Guillebeau

Jean Inglett Guillebeau, 89, stepped into glory on September 30, 2020. As was her wish, she passed away in her home.

Jean was born on June 19, 1931, the daughter of Beatrice and Horace Inglett of Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from Tubman High School and was a magazine model for Ipana toothpaste. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Allen Inglett, and the love of her life, Otis Guillebeau, Jr., known as Sonny.

Surviving are sons Otis(Joy) Guillebeau III of Auburn, Georgia, and David (Carlotta) Guillebeau of McDonough, Georgia; four grandchildren, Emily Herrington, Melissa (John) Line, Rebecca (Twon) Austin, and Brad (Stephanie) Guillebeau; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Known as “Mama Jean” to all who loved her, one of her most notable characteristics was generosity. Mama Jean was known for giving “grab bags” to those who visited, filled with trinkets and treasures of all kinds. She delighted in supporting missions and various ministries and giving directly to those in need. Attending Truth Tabernacle of Praise was the highlight of her week, and even though her recent health kept her from attending services in person she continued to love and encourage anyone in need.Her faith and love for Jesus was evident in everything she did, and Jean and Sonny led Bible study classes for over 50 years. She was very fond of shopping, wearing makeup and dressing up. Mama Jean was never without a lipstick, a pair of sunglasses, and a stick of gum. Even though many things in the world made her smile – her children, grandchildren, and church family – we know that her biggest smile was reserved for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we rejoice in knowing she is with him now in Body and Spirit.
