Jean Edwards Winfrey

Jean Edwards Winfrey, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 4, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on March 22, 1933, in Llano, Texas, to the late John R. Edwards and Dora Edwards. Jean was a devoted member of Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She had a zest for life and a passion for adventure, which she shared with her husband as they explored the skies together in his own airplane. Their shared love for travel and flying created cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Jean is survived by her loving children, Daughter Laura Harrison of Stone Mountain, GA, Son Alan (Linda) Winfrey of Marietta, GA, and Daughter Amelia Hawkins of Loganville, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Dobbs of Decatur, GA, and leaves behind a legacy of love with 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leslie, Oliver, Carl, sister Helen Voyles, her beloved husband, Jimmy Crosby Winfrey, and her son-in-law, Phil Hawkins. Visitation to pay respects to Jean’s memory will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wages and Sons Funeral Home Stone Mountain Chapel. A heartfelt Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM, with Reverend Kevin Days officiating the ceremony. Following the service, Jean will be laid to rest at Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Jean Edwards Winfrey was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her kindness, grace, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a source of inspiration and love. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
