Jill Schupbach, lovingly known as Sweetie, Mom, Grandma, and Grammy, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on June 8, 1946, in Dover, Ohio, and most recently resided in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Jill graduated from New Philadelphia High School in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She later dedicated 20 years of service to Gwinnett County High School, working in the cafeteria from May 1986 until her retirement in May 2006. Through her work and daily interactions, she touched countless lives with her warm smile and caring heart.
Jill was a devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she joined and converted to the Catholic faith on September 11, 2001. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She served faithfully as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister and lovingly prepared food for the Lazarus Ministry. Jill had a deep devotion to Mary, the Virgin Mother, and her favorite Bible passage was Luke 1:39–56. Her commitment to her church community reflected her generous and servant-hearted spirit. She believed in the power of prayer. She prayed the rosary to Mary our Blessed Mother every day and when situations were grave, she prayed a Novena asking St Jude to intercede with God for needed help.
She found great joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Jill loved cross stitching, creating intricate 3D greeting cards, grinding and blending her own flour to bake homemade bread, gardening, working puzzles, preserving food through canning and freeze drying, and cooking for family gatherings. She had a special gift for making holidays and family celebrations unforgettable. Family was everything to her, and she made each person feel unified, secure, loved, and truly special.
Jill will be remembered as caring, nurturing, giving, thoughtful, generous, kind, loving, and sweet. She was loved by all who knew her and never hesitated to help anyone in need. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her faith and her love for others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Stotts, and her mother, Ruth Stotts. Jill is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Schupbach; her children, Jeannine (Rick) Gooch, Paul (Brenda) Chaney, Kim Maddox, and Larry (Beth) Schupbach; her sister, Susan (Craig) Deetzher; grandchildren, Elijah (Jessica) Chaney, Joseph Chaney, Nathan (Kryztal) Chaney, Zane (Grace) Maddox, Mercer Maddox, Camden (Gracie) Maddox, and Jessica (Matt) Cucuzza; and eight cherished great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love lives on through each of them.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 319 Grayson Highway Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jill’s memory to World Vision at Worldvision.org/Donate.
Jill’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
