Joan Marie Savignano

SAVIGNANO, Joan Marie Sughrue, age 88, passed Friday, February 4, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born January 23, 1934, in Arlington, MA, the daughter of Cornelius Sughrue and Nellie O’Brien.

Joan grew up in Cambridge, MA and graduated from Saint John’s Highschool in 1952. After high school, she worked various jobs including at Polaroid and the Boston Public Library. After her marriage she concentrated on raising her family.

Joan married Lawrence “Larry” Michael Savignano, III from Cambridge, MA on June 10, 1961, celebrating their 60th anniversary last year. Early in marriage they lived in Cambridge, MA before moving to Tewksbury, MA. In 1972, the family settled in Stone Mountain, GA where they lived for 49 years. Joan was a loving Wife, Mother of four, and Nana to five grandchildren.

Joan is survived by children: Larry Savignano, IV, Teresa Keys, Neil Savignano (Paula), and Caryn Bremer (Blake); Grandchildren, Harrison, Courtney, and Anna Savignano; Blake M. and Jordan Bremer; Sister-in-laws: Kay Glynn, Helen Robbio (Steve), and Jeanie Sinausky (Bill), and their families.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Michael Savignano, III, her father, Cornelius Sughrue, her mother Nellie O’Brien Sughrue. Brother, Cornelius Sughrue, Jr.; Sisters, Mary Reed and Helen McKenna; Sisters-in-law, Sue Sughrue; Brothers-in-law, Thomas McKenna, and Billy Glynn; Son-in-law, Wade Keys.

The Family will receive guests February 28th, 2022; 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wages & Sons Funeral Home, Stone Mountain, GA. A Funeral Mass in “Celebration of Life” will be held March 1, 2022; 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Stone Mountain, GA with Internment; 1: 30 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
