John Leonard Butler age 90 of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, November 30, 2017, surrounded by his immediate family. Born in Stone Mountain, on November 18, 1927, Mr. Butler served his country in the U.S. Army where he was member of the 101st Airborne Division overseas during World War II. He served as Assistant Post Master at Pine Lake for over 15 years, and also a member of the First Baptist Church of Stone Mountain. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Jean Kimbell Butler earlier this year and a son Charles Walker Butler. Surviving is son: John William (Becky) Butler and daughter: Beverly Butler (Barry) Wooten; and eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Wages and Sons Funeral Home 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, from 10:00AM until 11:00 AM Graveside services will be held, 11:30 AM, Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Bethel Community Cemetery in Stone Mountain, with Dr. Dan Parker officiating and grandson Chris Moore providing the eulogy.
