John Daugherty Clovis

May 27, 1932 — June 24, 2019

John Daugherty Clovis was born at home in St Mary, WV on May 27, 1932 to parents George Amos Clovis and Nelle Daugherty Clovis. He was the middle of 3 boys. His older brother William (Bill) Edward Clovis preceded him in death in 2005. His younger brother is George A. Clovis who lives in Garland, TX. John and Linda married in January 1977 and have a blended family. He is survived by daughter Cindy (Mike) Cooke, son Ted Brian Clovis, stepsons Tom (Meg) Pate, Todd (Judy) Pate and Tony (Detra) Pate. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Anne Clovis in December 2001. John and Linda have 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. After graduating from Abilene Christian University John taught school for 55.5 years as a band director, choral director and Bible teacher. His love for students continued to the end of his life. He kept up with many through Facebook, emails and phone calls and enjoyed hearing about their lives. He taught the Searchers Bible class at Campus Church for many, many years and loved every minute of it. He even cut vacations short to be back on Sundays to teach class. John's greatest loves were family, music, ACU, GACS and the Ohio State Buckeyes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Atlanta Inner-City Ministry.
