John Keith Mielke

June 12, 1930 — July 30, 2020

John Keith Mielke know to his friends and family as “Jack” or “Papa” gained his wings on July 30, 2020. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. John had a kind loving soul and heart filled with love for his friends and family. He was born on June 12, 1930 at the hospital in Wahpeton, ND however lived in Lafayette, Minn. He lived in his hometown until going to Gustavus Adolphus College in St Peter Minn. While John was in college, he was in the ROTC program. He graduated with a biology degree in 1952. After graduating he enlisted in the navy where he served on two ships as a lieutenant J.G. line officer in the Korean war from 53-56. Johns career was working for US Steel in sales with Industrial Chemicals where he eventually retired from. He met the love of his life Patricia Louise Johnston on a blind date and married her on June 22, 1957. They lived in Richfield Minn., then onto Chicago and finally settling in Stone Mountain Ga. where he lived for the past 53 years. He was a faithful member of St. Michaels and All Angels Church where he also had sung in the choir. He was an avid golfer and fisherman in his younger years, a skilled woodworker, traveled, attended the symphony, and loved his wife’s cooking. He loved being with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. His life will be cherished in the lives of his children Matthew, Mitchell, and Sara. His legacy continues in his 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. John is preceded in his death by his parents Art and Lenore Mielke and his sister Margie Johnson. In lieu of flowers please give to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance @TSalliance.org. A celebration of John’s life will be held on a later date.
