John Albin Reeves Jr.

July 1, 1948 — April 14, 2025

John Albin Reeves, Jr., resident of Grayson, Georgia, passed away peacefully at the age of 76. A proud Navy veteran, passionate gardener, and lifelong Braves fan, John lived a full life with humor, heart, and just the right amount of stubbornness.

Born in Decatur, Georgia to the late John Albin Reeves Sr. and Mary Margaret Preston Reeves Chambers, Jack (as he liked to be called) graduated from Decatur High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Navy, stationed in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico—an experience he often reminisced about with pride and joy. Following his service, he spent his career with Southern Bell before achieving one of his proudest milestones: retiring at the young age of 50.

Jack was many things—a grill master with his Big Green Egg, a plant whisperer who could name every flower in the yard, and a spirited conversationalist who could fill a room with stories (whether you asked or not!). He found joy in the simple pleasures: a Falcons game on TV viewed from his favorite recliner, a good meal out, a lively political debate, and checking the stock market just one more time.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Susan Thompson Reeves, with whom he shared decades of spirited debates and a deep pride in their family. He is survived by his children, Amber Rouse (Charles) and Brett Reeves; his grandchildren, Zachary and Madelyn, whom he loved to tease; his adoring sister, Katharine Reeves Drennon; and his brother, Robert Preston Reeves.

In his later years, John never missed a chance to say “I love you” at the end of every phone call, a sentiment that became even more important after losing his wife. He will be remembered for his wit, his storytelling, and the way he made everyone feel like they were part of the conversation—even if they never got a word in.
