John E. West

John E. West, age 88, of Lawrenceville, GA went to be with the Lord 12/04/2010 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Chattanooga, TN on 9/15/1922 and attended City High School where he was captain of the football team. In 1941 he was chosen all-state guard for the state of Tennessee. John was a WWII veteran who served from Nov. 1942 to Jan. 1946 and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and many other awards. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty West; children, John G. West of Conyers, GA, Barry Scott West of Lawrenceville, GA, Michelle West Davis and husband, Timothy Davis of Monroe, GA; six grandchildren, Shannon Nicole West of Social Circle, Kyle West and wife, Roxanne, of Bethlehem, GA, Getty Smith of Dacula, GA, Caitlyn Becca Davis, Brittain Scott Davis, and Callie McKenna of Monroe, GA; two great grandchildren, Gwenneth Janey and Grayson Edward West of Bethlehem, GA; brother, David J. West; sister-in-law, Edna West; four nephews and two nieces. John's life will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary Elliott officiating.
