Joseph Wells "Joe" New

Joseph Wells “Joe” New passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born at his home on Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain, Georgia, on June 19, 1943.

Joe was a dedicated farrier for 62 years, devoting his life to working with horses and training those who owned them. He spent 25 years with Viewmont Appaloosa Breeding Farm and, in his earlier years, rode and broke horses for the public. His passion for horsemanship was evident in everything he did. Though he lived in modern times, his ways reflected the traditions of the Wagon Train Trail. A hardworking man, Joe also cherished time spent hunting and fishing with his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; sons Pete (Brandy) and Reed (Jennifer); grandsons Austin (Haley), Laramie, and Brody; and great-grandson Westin.

A gathering to honor Joe’s memory will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. at 3932 East Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281.

Joe’s legacy of hard work and dedication to his craft will be remembered by all who knew him.
