Joyce Luther Owens

Joyce Luther Owens age 86 of Stone Mountain passed away Wednesday October 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born on Monday October 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Hoke and Mary Knight Luther; Joyce was preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Owens, and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Joyce was a member of Stone Mountain First Baptist Church for many years, she enjoyed watching soap operas, doing word searches, making ceramics, going to the Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee Georgia and she loved her cats, she worked in the cafeteria of Stone Mountain High School and was known as The Ice Cream Lady.

Surviving are children Michael and Jeff Owens of Stone Mountain Georgia, Catherine (Arthur) Wallace of Monroe, and Jenni (Jeff) Farmer of Duluth; she is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm Monday October 6, 2025, at the Wages and Sons Funeral Home Stone Mountain Chapel 1040 Main Street Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083 with Dr. Dan Parker officiating. Interment will follow at the Sheppard Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday October 6, 2025, from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Wages and Sons Stone Mountain Chapel.
