Judge William Marion Guess

October 19, 1942 — July 18, 2012

Judge William Marion Guess Marion passed away July 17, 2012. A life-long resident of Stone Mountain, Judge Guess was preceded by his father, William Marion Guess, Sr. and is survived by his wife, Iliana, son Trey, daughter Casi, granddaughters Anna Kate and Ella Grace, mother Dorothy, sister Becky, and nieces April and Dee. Judge Guess served the Probate Court of DeKalb County for 32 years, operated a private practice in partnership with Victoria Gunn, owned and operated Georgia Probate Notes, authored numerous books, served as Vice President and President of the Georgia Council of Probate Court Judges and as President of the National College of Probate Judges. He was a highly regarded and well respected judge – known for his compassion and fairness. Judge Guess received the William W. Treat Award from the National College of Probate Judges for his contributions to Probate Law and was voted 2001 Outstanding Probate Court Judge of the Year by his colleagues. Judge William Marion Guess will be deeply missed by his adoring family and many friends. Services will be held at Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 21st at 4:30pm.
