Julia Biegeleisen

Julia Deane Jones Biegeleisen died on September 26, 2015 at age 92. “Judy” was born in 5/10/1923 in Russellville, AR to the late King and Rosalie Jones. A child of the depression, she was raised in oil-boom town Longview, TX, where she lived until graduation from high school. She moved to Ft. Smith, AR, Camp Chaffee, where she met her husband-to-be, Joe, and married shortly after the end of World War II. A dedicated homemaker and mother of four children, she was the back-bone of her family as Joe completed post-graduate work in Oklahoma. Judy moved her family to Georgia in 1959 where Joe was employed after graduating. Following Joe’s death in 1964, Judy began her career in laboratory work at the Centers for disease Control, where she retired as a statistician in 1989. Judy also returned to college, graduating with a degree in economics, from Mercer University in 1974. In addition to her love of God and her family, Judy was passionate about sports, music, gardening and nature, cats, and politics and economics. Judy was a life-long member of Eastern Star and League of Women Voters. Judy is predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Joseph Z. Biegeleisen, Jr., and her 3 sisters and brother. She is survived by sons, Dean H Biegeleisen and wife, Lynn, of Jefferson, GA, Louis K Biegeleisen, of Fairfield, IA, and J. Alan Biegeleisen and wife, Judy, of Sylvania, GA, daughter, Rosanne B. Maltese of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren, Ryan Z Maltese and wife, Jackie, of Atlanta, GA, Christina Biegeleisen, of Sylvania, GA, and Leah Biegeleisen, of Los Angeles, CA, 4 great-grandchildren, Carlton, Gabriella, Jackson, and Rosaria, nephews, Fred Jones of McKinney, TX, and Gary Morris of E. Stroudsburg, PA., sister-in-law, Sophie Morris of Stroudsburg, PA, and numerous others who were always welcomed into her home throughout her life. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at North Atlanta Memorial Park, 5188 Winters Chapel Road, Dunwoody, GA 30360. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Chattahoochee Nature Center or the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
