JULIA STEPHENS BLAHNIK
Julia Stephens Blahnik, 87, of Tucker, GA passed away on June 11, 2017 after a long illness. Julia Vinson Stephens was born June 8, 1930 in Albany, Georgia. She was the daughter of George Thomas Stephens of Renfro and Atlanta, GA. and Kathryn Lucille Manning of Atlanta. Julia was predeceased by her parents, and sisters, Sarah Elizabeth (Lizzy) Blahnik, Mary Eleanor Barringer, Kathryn Corrigan, and brother, George T. Stephens, Jr.
Survivors are her husband of 66 years, Robert B. Blahnik, sister, Christine Mary Verner; children, Elizabeth Mary Gentzle of St. Simons, Ga., Robert B., Jr. (Burt) of St. Simons, Ga., Tom, Stone Mtn., Ga. Jeannie Fitzgerald (Stan), Savannah, Ga. and Patricia Hernandez (Manny), Acworth, Ga., Grandchildren Dan Harrison (Jenny), Tabitha Wiedower (Phil), great grandchildren Andrew and Mia Harrison and Connor and MacKenzie Wiedower. Also many nieces and nephews.
Julia’s Atlanta heritage goes back to her great-grandfather, Michael Lynch, a pioneer Atlanta bookseller and principled Unionist. Julia attended E. Rivers school, grew up in Peachtree Hills and Graduated from Christ the King high school. After marriage in 1950 Julia took on the role of a true Homemaker, in every sense of the word.
The family would like to thank Alicia, Catherine and Denise and everyone at Hospice Atlanta for their dedicated and compassionate help over the last six months.
Graveside service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 15th at Westview. Celebration of Julia's life will follow at Julia's home in Tucker.
