Julia’s formative years were spent in Stone Mountain, where she graduated from Stone Mountain High School, establishing the foundation for a lifetime of service and achievement. Her career was notably marked by three decades of exemplary work as a secretary for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). Colleagues and friends alike respected her unwavering professionalism, attention to detail, and steadfast commitment to her responsibilities.
Above all, Julia was distinguished by her servant’s heart. She poured her love and energy into caring for those around her, a trait that became a hallmark of her character. Family always came first for Julia. She cherished the bonds she nurtured with her siblings, nieces, and nephews, and she viewed each relationship as a precious part of her life. Her capacity to support and care was a constant source of strength for those fortunate enough to know her.
Julia’s passions extended beyond her vocation to a broad and vibrant array of hobbies. She was gifted in the arts of sewing and crocheting, appreciated the satisfaction of refinishing furniture, and found joy in ceramics and cooking. The holidays were especially meaningful; Julia took great pleasure in making Christmas ornaments, each one crafted with love and often treasured by her family for years to come.
Her faith was an integral part of her identity. As a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Julia built lasting connections within her church community, drawing comfort and strength from her faith and contributing selflessly to the church’s fellowship and mission.
Julia leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her sister, Eugenia Everett; her brother, Charles (Becky) Hewatt; and her nieces and nephews, Larry (Cathy) Hewatt, Cathy Hall, Donna (Steve) Fulford, Dwayne (Cris) Hewatt, Laurie (Barry) Head, Steven (Joy) Everett, and Russell (Kara) Hewatt, as well as many great-nieces and nephews. In her passing, she joins those who preceded her in death: her father, Reece Hewatt; her mother, Kate Hewatt; her sister, Opal Hewatt Garmon; her brothers, Billy Hewatt and Linwood "Wink" Hewatt; and her beloved husband, Reuben Mobley.
