Kathryn Jacqueline "Jackie" Mcclure

October 15, 1934 — May 17, 2025

Kathryn Jacqueline McClure, lovingly known as Jackie, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Highlands, North Carolina, at the age of 90. Born on October 15, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jackie lived a life full of purpose, faith, love.

A proud graduate of Murphy High School in Atlanta, Jackie retired from a long and dedicated career as an Administrative Assistant for the USDA. Throughout her life, she had a passion for serving others and giving back to her community. She volunteered for the Gwinnett Women’s Shelter, Meals on Wheels, and taught English as a Second Language—always guided by her deep faith and compassionate heart.

Jackie was a faithful and active member of Hebron Baptist Church, where she was part of the beloved Joy Class. Though she moved closer to family in 2020, Hebron and the women of the Joy Class remained a very important and cherished part of her life. Her love for Jesus Christ was evident in every aspect of her life. Despite facing personal tragedies, her unwavering faith never faltered and continued to be her foundation and guiding light.

Jackie is remembered for her unconditional love, kindness, generosity, and faith. She had a joyful sense of humor, a humble heart, and an adventurous soul. Whether it was through calligraphy, reading, watching movies, traveling or caring for grandchildren, she approached life with grace and gratitude. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family—making each member feel special, heard, and deeply loved. Jackie gave her full attention to those around her, and her wisdom, warmth and humor left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Eugene McClure, and her son, Russell Eugene McClure, Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter Gena Futral and son-in-law Bill Futral, her granddaughter Sarah Futral, her daughter Kathryn Shirley and son-in-law Terry Shirley, her granddaughter Grace Martin and husband Cody Martin, and her three great-grandsons: Brody, Boone, and Baker Martin. Gerry Vaughn, Mary Castleberry, and Brenda Heard came into her life as sisters-in-law, but she cherished them as true sisters in her heart.
