Kellett Anthony (Tony) Goodwin (59), of Stone Mountain, passed away unexpectedly on May 24 at the home he shared with his wife, Lisa.
Born on December 21, 1954 in Auburn, Ala., Tony was the son of the late Kellett Goodwin Jr. and Doris Frasier Goodwin, both of Rome, Ga. Tony graduated from Cross Keys High School in Northeast Atlanta and received a technical degree in diesel mechanics from DeKalb Technical College, now Georgia Piedmont Technical College.
After college, Tony worked for Marta for more than 25 years, until vision problems caused him to take early retirement in 2003. Since that time, he has been actively volunteering with various organizations. One group he especially enjoyed working with was the (Atlanta) Temple’s Night Shelter for the Homeless. Tony has always had a kind heart and believed in giving what he could to those who were less fortunate than himself.
Tony also found solace in nature. One of his greatest pleasures was time spent walking along the Stone Mountain Park trails, near where he and Lisa lived. Tony met his wife, Lisa Kout Goodwin, at the Atlanta Temple and they marked their 25th anniversary this past December.
Tony is survived by his wife, Lisa, and his brother-in-law, Greg Kout; by his mother, Doris Goodwin; his sisters Lynn Goodwin Keszler and Debbie LePage Bouknight and brothers-in-law Alan Keszler and Mendal Bouknight; and by his brother, Eric Goodwin. He will be deeply missed by all his family members and by his friends across the Atlanta area. To honor his memory, please donate to your favorite charity and remember to spend time with those you love because tomorrow is never promised.
