Rev. L. James Brooks, 87, of Lawrenceville passed away peacefully at home on May 24th, 2013. He was born in Jamestown, ND on June 13, 1925. He married Edith Maasjo on June 6th, 1950. Other survivors include: 2 sons, John Debbie Brooks, Tim Karen Brooks, 2 Daughters Ruth Dana Medcalf, Rebecca Roger Eddy, Daughter-in-law Carrie Brooks, 21 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by son, Jed, and sister, Joanne. He was a Parish Pastor, ordained in 1953. He served churches in Wisconsin, North Dakota, Illinois, and Georgia. He was a combat veteran in the USMC during WWII in the South Pacific. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Oak Road Lutheran Church for the India Hospital Mission. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Road Lutheran Church, 1004 Oak Road, Lilburn, GA 30047. Entombment with military honors will follow at East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 770 277-4550.
