Lannie G. Phillips, 68, died unexpectedly June 22, 2020 at Northside Gwinnett Medical. He was born September 9, 1951, in Flint, MI, the son of Lionel G. Phillips and Lauralee (Manchester) Phillips.
Lannie graduated Swartz Creek High School in Swartz Creek, MI, Class of 1970. Following graduation, he attended Flint Junior College for Hospitality Management. He worked for General Motors for 30 years until his retirement in 2002. He belonged to Local UAW 10. Him and his wife, Linda, ran a small handyman business after his retirement from GM, L & L Woodworking.
He married Linda Sills of Swartz Creek, MI on March 26, 1977 at the Swartz Creek UMC in Swartz Creek, MI. They moved to Adrian, MI from Flint MI. Lannie was involved in Royal Rangers, a Christian Based Boy youth group while in Adrian, MI. He was also involved with Young Marines in the early 1990’s. More recently, he was a part of a Men’s Bible Study group out of Hebron Baptist Church. In his youth he was in Boy Scout in Boy Scouts of America, and was involved with his Grandchildren, Liam, and Skye’s scouting adventures. He had developed a fondness for Tractor Pulls and attended them with a friend.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lionel G. Phillips, and Lauralee (Manchester)Phillips. Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda (Sills) Phillips, are his daughters Darci Phillips of Norcross, GA and Heather Phillips of Dacula, GA. His Grandchildren, Liam D. Wilkie and Skye M. Wilkie of Dacula, GA. His Sister and Brothers, Connie Wilke of Flushing, MI, Tom Phillips of Daytona Beach, FL and Roger Phillips of Flint, MI and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Wages and Son Funeral Home on Lawrenceville Hwy in Lawrenceville, GA. The service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1 pm. The service will be officiated by Mr. Flip Johnson of Hebron Baptist Church. With a Grave site service at Gwinnett Memorial Park down the road from the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to be made to the family to be given to a charity of the family’s choice.
He will be strongly missed as he was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and friend.
