Laodice Davies

February 10, 1945 — October 10, 2019

Obituary Laodice Lucynthia Dooley was born on February 10, 1945 to the late Herbert and Sylvia Dooley in Kingston, Jamaica. The eldest daughter, Laodice is survived by two brothers, Trevor (Pat), Landis (Ann), and three sisters, Desreen (Winston), Peaches (Desmond), and Rose (Clifton). She was married to Barry Davies and their union produced one daughter, Lauriann (Nathaniel). She also had two stepdaughters, Kate, Meg (James), and one stepson, Robert. They have three grandchildren Stephanie, Melissa, and Nora. She cherished her sister-in-law Megan (Doug) in England with whom she and Barry spoke daily. Laodice has a host of nieces (Sharlene, Tanya S., Elizabeth, Denise, Tanya E.); nephews (Fabian, Sean, Greg, Ted, Patrick); their spouses, off-springs, many relatives, and close friends who will miss her dependable and cheery birthday cards and gifts. Laodice Davies will always be remembered by her friends and family for her thoughtfulness and detailed newsletters. She traveled all over the world with her adventurous husband and made lifelong pen-pals wherever she visited. She respected her elders and endeared herself to many by keeping in touch with the old friends of her deceased parents. Laodice loved rose gardens, entertaining friends in her home, and going to the movies to see romantic comedies (her favorite movie was “Pretty Woman”). She enjoyed surprising her friends with small gifts and was fond of bringing people of like interests together. She sang in a number of church choirs and played instruments such as the piano and guitar. In her early years in Jamaica, Laodice excelled in gymnastics and was known in both religious and secular venues for her vocal talent. Although her voice is now silent, the melody of her dignity and grace will always live on in our memories.
