Laura Bacon-Blankenship

Laura Bacon-Blankenship went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2025, at the age of 86. Laura was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on October 24, 1938, the only child of Laura Lyle and Edward Brownlee. The family moved to Chattanooga when Laura was a small child, and she lived there until she married in 1960. She was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga, and a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Laura loved the beach and spent many of her adult years living in Florida. Besides walking on the beach and collecting seashells, Laura also enjoyed movies, reading, drawing and painting, and puzzles of all kinds.

Laura moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia in 2017, soon after the death of her husband, Don Blankenship, to live with her daughter, Kathy, and her family. She was officially diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2021.

Laura is survived by her three children Kathy Friton (Dean), John “Tommy” Bacon (Holly), and Richard Bacon (Tammy); four grandchildren Lagacie Baldwin (Alec), Amon Whitfield, Autumn Bacon, and Carol Bacon; and two great-granddaughters, Sage and Raenah; as well as many cousins.
