LaVera Foster was born on September 6, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, to Rachel Lee Smith and Elvenice Wilborn, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the middle child of three children. Her sisters are Wanda and Sylvia. During her early years, LaVera was raised and grew up in Los Angeles, California, where she developed the strong family values of love, compassion, and perseverance that guided her throughout her life.
LaVera was first married to Donald Fredrick Reese, and from that union two children were born, Rosilyn and Donald. On June 12, 1993, LaVera later remarried and shared 33 years with her husband, Michael Earl Foster. They had a son, Michael Anthony Foster. After marriage, they made their home in Antioch, California, where they built a life and many cherished memories. They later relocated to Stone Mountain, Georgia. Her beloved daughter, Rosilyn, passed to the Lord one week before her.
LaVera dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Throughout her career, she compassionately cared for many elderly patients, treating them with dignity and kindness as if they were her own family. Her gentle spirit, patience, and dedication left a lasting impact on those she served.
Outside of her work, LaVera enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved listening to music, gardening, going out to eat, and playing the slot machines, especially when she could spend time with her family while enjoying the things she loved to do. These moments brought her joy, laughter, and many cherished memories with those closest to her.
LaVera departed this life on February 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Michael, her children, Donald, and Michael; her sisters Wanda and Sylvia, her grandchildren, Monea, Auzhanae, Bobby, and Donald; her great-grandchildren, Gregory and Malachi; along with many other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared and the lives she touched will continue to live on through her family. LaVera will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver whose kindness, strength, and compassionate spirit touched the lives of many. Her legacy of love and care will continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply and the many lives she blessed throughout her life.
