Lawrence Michael Savignano

SAVIGNANO, III, Lawrence Michael (Larry), age 87, passed Thursday, September 30, 2021, in his home surrounded by family. He was born July 5, 1934, in Boston, MA, the son of Lawrence Michael Savignano, Jr. and Jean Halliday Savignano.

Larry attended Boston College and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958 as an Aircraft Mechanic. After the service, he worked for various commercial airlines, including most of his career with 33 years at Delta Air Lines, in retirement he worked for fun as an “engineer” driving the train at Stone Mountain Park.

Larry married Joan Sughrue from Cambridge, MA and celebrated their 60th anniversary in June of this year. Early in marriage they lived in Cambridge, MA before moving to Tewksbury, MA. In 1972, the family settled in Stone Mountain, GA where Larry resided for over 49 years as a loving husband, father, and Papa to his five grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife, Joan; children: Larry Savignano, IV, Teresa Keys, Neil Savignano (Paula), and Caryn Bremer (Blake). Grandchildren: Harrison, Courtney, and Anna Savignano; Blake M. and Jordan Bremer. Sisters: Kay Glynn, Helen Robbio (Steve), and Jeanie Sinausky (Bill), and their families.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Michael Savignano, Jr., his mother Jean Halliday Savignano. Son-in-law, Wade Keys. Brother-in-laws, Billy Glynn, and Neil Sughrue. Sister-in-laws, Sue Sughrue, Mary Reed, and Helen McKenna.

The Family will receive guests October 25th, 2021; 2PM – 5PM Wages & Sons Funeral Home, Stone Mountain, GA. A Funeral Mass in “Celebration of Life” will be held October 26th, 2021; 10 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Stone Mountain, GA with Internment; 2PM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
