Leon Eugene Windle

Leon Eugene Windle, age 83, of Lawrenceville passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010. Leon was a WWII veteran and received a purple heart for his participation in the Battle of Okinawa. Before moving to Lawrenceville, Leon lived in Merritt Island, FL for 37 years, where he managed a team delivering safety courses at Cape Kennedy during the Apollo program. He also taught science at Edgewood Jr. High in Merritt Island. Leon spent 10 years compiling a geneology and biography of his parents' families. He is well known for his garden-grown tomatoes. He spent his life working to provide and care for his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Kindrick Windle; children, Patricia Windle Partridge, Harry Windle and Marilyn Windle; grandchildren, Burton Windle and Tara Partridge; great grandchildren, Ryan & Gavin Windle. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2 o'clock at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel with interment to follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville.
