Petty Officer 3rd Class Leonard ‘Lenny’ Raynold Carothers, Sr., 95 passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, Carol, and family at his Lawrenceville, GA, home on 10/24/22.
Lenny was a decorated veteran who served in WW2. Lenny was born on 8/24/1927 in Newark, OH, to his parents, Reginald ‘Reggie’ and Anna. When living in Lancaster, OH, he met and married, Helen, in 1946, and then had a son, Leonard ‘Lucky’ Carothers, Jr. in 1947. Lenny spent 20 years as a VP at Doran Transport.
When he wasn’t working, Lenny had a passion for gardening, putting together puzzles and entertaining with his wife Carol who he married in 2007. Lenny was one of the kindest souls on this planet. He was a gentle, giving, funny and entertaining man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage and always had a smile and encouragement for everyone he met.
Lenny was predeceased by his first wife, Helen, and parents, Reggie, and Anna. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his son, Lucky Carothers, his two Granddaughters, Shannon Carothers and Shelly Smith and her husband, Mike, his Great Grandson, Andrew Leonard Smith, and Carol’s beloved family who was equally loved by Lenny.
Viewing will be in Lawrenceville, GA on November 17th with a Celebration of life on November 18th. Additional services are still being organized in Lancaster, OH, later in November.
