Leslie Sperr Hamilton

Leslie Sperr Hamilton of Stone Mountain passed on June 9, 2021.

Leslie was born on January 15, 1957 in Arlington Heights, IL to Edward and Sylvia Sperr.

Leslie graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, MI in 1975 and she attended Ferris State University and Clemson University where she studied commercial art and marketing. Leslie excelled while employed at The Sport Shoe, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Nieman Marcus and finally at The Home Depot.

Always a “people person” dating back to her days as a camp counselor at Camp Merrie Woode she never met a stranger and was congenial to everyone.

Her hobbies and interests (and she had many) included tennis, half marathons and 5k’s, cross stitch and needlework, gardening, boating, having a beer with friends and family and her many garage/estate sale excursions with her best friend Courtney!

A big sports fan, Leslie enjoyed NASCAR and Indy car racing attending races at Darlington, Daytona, Bristol, Indianapolis, Atlanta and Talladega. She also loved her Atlanta Falcons and Clemson Tigers and her beloved Atlanta Braves and looked forward to the company of her tailgating friends and family.

Leslie lived her life to the fullest, never a dull moment while going to Jimmy Buffet concerts and annual family trips to the beach. Nothing was more relaxing to Leslie than sitting in her beach chair, umbrella up, bubble machine churning out bubbles, kite flying overhead, surf reaching her toes in the sand and having a cold one with family all around.

Leslie was a 20+ year volunteer for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. She also gave her time and resources to Dekalb Animal Shelter and Atlanta Botanical Gardens. She also donated to The island Pony Reserve at The Okracoke Island National Seashore.

Leslie is survived by siblings Pete Sperr, Chip (Amy) Sperr, and Alexis (Milton) Morris and former husband David Hamilton. She will be missed by nieces & nephews Louisa & Joe, John Elliott, Michael & Stephanie, Natalie & Sean, Dustin & Kari, Ivan, Zane, Geer, Leila, Hank, Liam, Hudson, Dylan and Daxton.

Visitation will be at Wages and Son Funeral Home in Stone Mountain on Saturday August 21 from 4-6 pm.
