Linda Gail Barber

July 7, 1944 — January 6, 2014

Linda “Gail”King Barber (7/7/1944-1/6/2014) lived and died with Grace.  Gail was born in Stone Mountain, grew up in Decatur, and lived most of her adult life in Stone Mountain, GA.  She was an alumna of North Georgia College (65) and Georgia State University (78).  Gail was devoted to making life better for those who have the least, providing them with education, food, medicine, and prayer.  She was a retired DeKalb County ESOL teacher, taught Sunday School and VBS for more than 40 years, and committed her life to “welcoming the stranger.”  Gail loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker, gardener, kayaker, and letterboxer.  She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Frank, her children and their families:  Jill, Trudy, and Jordan Lee-Barber, Glen, Jen, Tafton, & Tristan Barber, Tom, Lynn, & Nova Ngo, and Abudul Hussain, as well as her siblings Henry King and Susan Buell and their families, and countless members of her dear extended immigrant family.  Condolences can be sent through www.wagesandsons.com ; in lieu of flowers, donations to www.heifer.org , www.umcor.org , https://www.rescue.org/us-program/us-atlanta-ga , or the church benevolent fund of your choice can be made. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on 1/17 at Wages in Stone Mountain.  Memorial Service will be at 2 pm on 1/18 at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, with visitation and reception from 1-2 pm at the church.
