Linda Marlene Gibson

November 23, 1958 — May 27, 2017

Linda Marlene Underwood Gibson passed on Saturday May 27th, 2017 after a lengthy battle with metastatic breast cancer of the bones, at the ripe youthful age of 58. Marlene was born in Decatur, Georgia where she attended Towers High School, and she received her associate degree from Georgia Perimeter College. She began working at Smith, Cavin, and Corbin, LLC, where she had been a loyal employee for the past 39 years. She met her husband, Harry Lee Gibson III, in 1979 and they married in 1982. They just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this May. They have attended Lawrenceville First Baptist Church for over 25 years, where they raised their three daughters. Marlene was a member of the choir and loved by everyone at the church. Many can remember her kindness, strength and joyful spirit, including her daughters: “Our mother could easily be described as a woman of strong opinion. However, you’d be smart to listen to her, because she was often right. She kept life simple. She was easily content on the tennis courts or sitting in a quiet movie theater. She valued the important things in life like faith, family and a little southern charm. She carried herself with a grace that we always admired and that we all hope to one day mirror. We remember watching her get herself fixed up for church in the most beautiful dresses. She was a stunner. That is how we will picture her until the day we get to see her again in Heaven!” Survived by: Husband - Harry Lee Gibson III, daughters – Ashley Lauren McIlvaine, Caitlin Ann Gibson, Christy Lee Gibson, Son in Law – John David McIlvaine, Sister – Donna Gay Gura Preceded by: Father – James Underwood, Mother – Imogene Pelt, Sister – Joan Caren Hively In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in memory of Linda, to Lawrenceville First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
