Lofton Phillips, age 90, of Buford, GA, formerly of Smyrna, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve Phillips and Toni (Lyons) Phillips of Marietta, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Joy (Phillips) Sharp and Ralph Sharp, of Norcross, GA; daughter, Jill (Phillips) Southerland of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren: Stephen and Shellie Phillips, Stanford and Lindsey Phillips, Samantha Phillips, Savannah Phillips, Hudson Phillips, Phillip and Amanda Stroud, Madison Sharp, Brittany and John Kivett, Brannan and Julia Southerland, and Blake Southerland; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also, surviving, his nephew, Joe Crump and Lofton’s caregiver and friend, Regina Lecates. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lene Phillips and grandson, Tyler Stroud, two brothers and one sister. Lofton was born in Crossville, AL. He attended Ider High School in Sand Mountain, AL. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He founded Northwest Exterminating Company in 1951. He was a board member of Greater Atlanta Christian School where he served for many years and was a member of Campus Church of Christ. He was a leader, patriot, and a friend to many. He had a tender heart, a mischievous sense of humor and never met a stranger. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Campus Church. His remains will be placed Instate at the church at 11:00 a.m. Dr. David Fincher of Greater Atlanta Christian School will officiate. Interment will follow at The Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Campus Church, 1525 Indian Trail Road, Norcross, GA 30093. Those desiring may make a donation to
