Loraine Justus Franklin

Loraine Justus Franklin, age 100 of Harbins Community, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA. Rastus Franklin and Pastor Patrick Choi will be officiating. A graveside service will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2570 Harbins Rd, Dacula, GA lead by Pastor Tim Johnson. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 19, 2026 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.

Loraine was a long-standing member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was in charge of the kitchen, helped with VBS and was head of the Benevolence Committee along with Bennie Still. Mrs. Franklin devoted a great deal of time and energy to the upkeep of the Harbins Community House. She loved to cook, was an avid reader of inspirational novels, enjoyed talking on the phone to family and friends, going to the beauty shop and could be seen rocking on her front porch in the summertime. Loraine worked for Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners for many years in the financial services department.

She had the privilege to work in all three court houses. Loraine was proceeded in death by her husband, Felton Franklin; parents, Ben and Lillie Justus; siblings, Lurline Beard, Ethel Puckett, Hayward Justus, and Ann Morgan. She is survived by her only son Jeff Franklin and daughter- in- law, Cathi; grandchildren, Amanda Wilson (Erin), Adam Franklin (Lauren), Meghan Kidd (Aubrey). Katy DeBenedetto (Jeremiah), and Erica Choi (Patrick) and nine beloved great grandchildren, Mason, Caiden, Logan, Emerson, Haven, Brinkley, Oliver, David and Sammy. Loraine is also survived by her in laws Virginia Brogdon, Don and Yvonne Schubele, and Rastus and Barbara Franklin along with several nieces and nephews.
