Maheeka Dharmakirthi

August 20, 1994 — April 26, 2017

Loving daughter of Mohan and Upeksha, beloved sister of Sayuri, soulmate of Janith, Goddaughter of Ray Offen and Nirupa Mendis and kind friend to all – Maheeka blessed us with her presence for the first time of August 20th, 1994, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She attended Musaeus College until grade 7, when she moved to Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from Brookwood High School in 2012, Maheeka attended Georgia State University where she studied Biology and was a faithful sister of Phi Mu Fraternity. Maheeka was known for her infectious personality and a smile that could light up a room. Her dream was to work with whales and other marine life, but she loved all animals, especially her dogs, Ginger and Pepper. Always full of positivity and optimism, Maheeka loved to explore new places and people. Her vibrant and bubbly personality gave her the ability to bring people of all different backgrounds together. Maheeka was diagnosed with leukemia in 2013. She then battled Graft Vs. Host disease for two and a half years. She left the world peacefully, surrounded by many who loved her. She will be dearly missed by all the lives she’s touched and will forever be in our hearts. A celebration of life will take place for Ms. Dharmakirthi on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4 PM – 6PM at the Wages and Sons Funeral Home Stone Mountain Chapel.
