Makson A. Esan

MAKSON ABIOYE ESAN was born in Ibadan into the ESAN family of Ilesha, Osun State on the 4th of October, 1962. His parents were the late Papa Theophilus Adedeji Esan and the late Madam Alice Eludoyin Esan, of Ilesha, Osun state.

He started his primary education in Ibadan, Oyo State and thereafter left for Warri, Delta State to live with his oldest brother. He completed his secondary school education at Hussey College, Warri, Delta State. In his secondary school days, Makson loved to play ping pong. He was the captain of the team and represented his college extraordinarily, winning several medals. He later went to Federal Government College in Warri, where he completed his lower sixth before proceeding to the University of Lagos to complete his 5 years Engineering program. He graduated from University of Lagos in 1984, where he bagged BSc in Civil Engineering. He completed his NYSC at African Petroleum, Lagos, Lagos state.

Having successfully completed his first degree in Civil Engineering in 1984, his eldest brother decided to send him to the USA to enroll for his Master’s program. He started and completed his Master’s program at Wayne State University in 1988, where he received his MSc in Civil Engineering. In his desire for more education, he proceeded to study MBA at University of Georgia Terry College of Business and Abroad program at Beijing and Shanghai simultaneously in 2007, where he completed his MBA, Finance.

Makson was a Professional Engineer (PE) – Michigan (1990) and Georgia (2002), Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute (2007), he was Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) by American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE) in two specialty areas – Water/Wastewater (1995) and Air Pollution Control (2009).

His working career lasted 38 years of active service in among other things: program and project management, design development and review. He had extensive experience managing design development and review for water and wastewater projects, including numerous CIP projects for DWM for many years.

He served as deputy program manager in water and wastewater treatment, plant designs and master plans, feasibility studies, preparation of O&M manuals, and construction specifications. He was also the technical manager for DWM’s PMST.

He was until his death, Principal, Civil Engineer, Stantec.

He is survived by his wife, children, brothers and sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces.
