Marcel Louis Delage

February 9, 1956 — February 2, 2024

Marcel L. Delage was born on February 9th, 1956, to Odilon and Irene Delage of Sleepy Hollow, New York. Odilon was a carpenter by trade and Irene was a homemaker, both originally hailing from the Canadian province of Quebec. Marcel graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 1976. In 1976, Odilon, Marcel’s father, died from complications originating from diabetes. Irene, Marcel’s mother, survived her husband until 2001 when she died from natural causes at 91.

Marcel, quickly needing to support himself and his now widowed mother, eventually got a job at the local General Motors factory. He quickly worked his way up into being an electrician. He would continue to work for General Motors for 30 years. This eventually would lead to transferring with his family to the Atlanta, GA area. After General Motors closed its Atlanta factory, he worked brief stints as both an IBEW Electrician and even a Gwinnett County school bus driver for a time. His hobbies involved electrical work, carpentry, general home improvement, and his much beloved hobby of being Santa Claus during the Christmas season.

On the morning of February 2nd, Marcel suffered a cardiac event and passed the same day with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laura J. Delage, who he met while square dancing, and their daughter Jennifer. His love, compassion, resourcefulness, and kindness will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gwinnett County Animal Welfare & Enforcement: 884 Winder Highway Lawrenceville, GA 30045.
