Margaret Haye Goddard

Margaret Haye Goddard, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away on August 21, 2026, in Stone Mountain at the age of 95. She was born on April 10, 1931, in Snellville, Georgia, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, warmth, and generous care for others.

Margaret devoted herself to being the best wife, mother, and grandmother possible. She was immensely proud of her family; they were her pride and joy. Her family was blessed by her nurturing nature, guidance, and unwavering love. As a homemaker, Margaret’s gifts shaped the lives of those around her every day, creating a home filled with comfort, love, and belonging.

Margaret was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Redan, Georgia. Her faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the love, kindness, and care she showed to those around her. Through her quiet strength and faithful heart, she shared the warmth of her faith with her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Margaret had a special talent for sewing, cooking, and embroidery and was a very talented seamstress. She sewed beautiful dresses and quilts, and she also enjoyed embroidery. The work of her hands reflected the care and love she poured into everything she did, leaving behind treasured reminders of her creativity and devotion.

Margaret was also a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. It was certain that you never left her house hungry. No family gathering was complete without one of her delicious desserts. The comfort she created through meals, conversation, and kindness will be remembered with deep gratitude and affection.

Margaret always greeted you with a smile and a big hug. She made everyone feel welcome and loved, and her home was a place where people were always received warmly. Her nurturing spirit and generous heart made those around her feel cared for and at home. She leaves behind beautiful memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hyde; her grandson, Matt Hyde, and his wife, Leah Hyde; her great-grandsons, Cohen Hyde and Jase Hyde; and her sisters, Betty Curtis and Ann Freeman. Margaret’s family will carry forward the memory of her steady love, her welcoming spirit, her nurturing guidance, and the many ways she made home a place of comfort and belonging.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Goddard; her father, Mark Haye; her mother, Lois Haye; her brothers, Wayne Haye and Lonnie Haye; and her sisters, Avis Brownlee and Joyce Parrish. Their memories remained part of the story of her life and the family she cherished so deeply.

Visitation will be held on August 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wages and Sons Funeral Home - Stone Mountain Chapel, 1040 Main St, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083. A funeral service will follow there from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 3:15 p.m. at Stone Mountain Cemetery, 1025 Silver Hill Rd, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30087.

Margaret Haye Goddard will be remembered with love for her gentle strength, her caring heart, her nurturing spirit, and the way she made family feel nourished in every sense of the word. Her warm smile, loving hugs, delicious meals, beautiful handiwork, and the comfort of her presence will remain among the many beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her faith, her love, and the example she set through the way she lived will continue to be a blessing to her family and all who knew her. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
