Margaret K. “Maggie” Vermeesch, age 74, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on August 26, 2026. She was born in Poland on February 25, 1952.
Maggie attended Georgia State University and enjoyed a career in sales before retiring in August 2025. A proud member of the Atlanta Polish community and One Life Fitness, she was also devoted to her Catholic faith.
A true free spirit, Maggie was energetic, sociable, and full of life. She loved being around people, and there was never a dull moment when she was nearby. She enjoyed gardening, relaxing by the pool, spending time outdoors and at the beach, cooking soups, and dancing. Maggie had a gift for making others laugh and feel genuinely cared for. Honest and compassionate, she made her family feel deeply loved and important and often reminded those around her, “You deserve the best.”
Maggie is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Touwsma; granddaughter, Jada Truitt; and her beloved dog, Madonna. She was preceded in death by her mother, Michalina Kanarek; sister, Mirka Kanarek; and father, Arnold Kanarek.
A Celebration of Life honoring Maggie will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 P.M.
Maggie will be remembered as a treasured mother, grandmother, lifelong friend, and bright, unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew her.
