Marilyn Parsonson, 86, of Lawrencevville, GA died peacefully at home on July 7, 2021 in the company of friends and family. Born July 12, 1934 in Lincoln, Nebraska, she is predeceased by her parents, John Shepherd and Mary Shepherd of Concord, NC.

Marilyn was one of the first female foreign service officers to be hired by the State Department in 1960 and worked in South America for the US embassy. She retired from US government service at the IRS in 2000 after a 25-year career with the government. She was an active member in her church at Tucker United Methodist Church and also as a volunteer at the Methodist Children’s Home.

Marilyn is survived by her children Sheri, Ellen, and Peter and grandchildren John Peeples, Robert Peeples, Michael Milberger, and Daniel Milberger as well as great grandchildren Rory and Mila Rose Peeples.

The family invites you to join them for a memorial service at Smyrna Presbyterian Church on Monday July 12, 2021 at 11:00am located at 3130 Atlanta Rd, Smyrna, GA. All are welcome. Her body will be interred in Concord, NC next to her mother and father.
