Mark Douglas Rafus, age 59, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Born in Wilmington, Vermont, Mark carried with him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility throughout his life. He was known as a hard worker—someone who gave his time and energy generously thatwas always rooted in his desire to provide and care for those he loved.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Cyndi Rafus, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He was a proud and devoted father to his three children: Joclyn (Allen) Brown, Devin (Brittney) Rafus, and Jadin Rafus. His family grew with their spouses and his grandchildren, Adelaide, Ariel, and Armilene. His family meant everything to him, and he showed his love not only in words, but in his constant dedication.
Mark is also survived by his mom Lorraine Brown, father Earl Rafus, brother Aaron Rafus, brother Earl “Buddy” Rafus, sister Sara Stearns, aunt Nell Arnold, and his many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mark enjoyed playing with his granddaughters and watching movies. Mark always loved a good nap that even his Redbulls could not interfere with. He was a loyal and compassionate man, someone others could count on, and someone who cared deeply for the people in his life. He also was a humble, selfless man who would sacrifice for those that he loved and cared for.
Mark will be remembered for his kind heart and the meaningful ways he touched the lives of those around him. He will also be remembered for the IROC he loved more than anything at the time—and don’t forget that yellow Ford Ranger. His love of nature and plants will always be remembered by his loved ones. We will never forget his iconic laugh that brought a smile and laugh to those around. He brought joy to those around him and had an unforgettable personality that was both kind, warm, and sometimes goofy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him—and riding with him in his beloved IROC.
He is legendary.
