Marlene Elizabeth "Polly" Carswell

Marlene “Polly” Hicks Carswell, age 79, of Lilburn, GA passed away Wednesday August 20, 2014. Born in Stone Mountain, Georgia on October 29, 1934 she was a graduate of Stone Mountain High School. She retired from Lilburn Middle School as the Lunchroom Manager in December 1994, she obtained a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Certificate from UGA and was a member of Mountain Park Baptist Church in Lilburn since 1962. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers (she liked to have flowers blooming all year round), always ready to entertain (whether with food or conversation) and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Robert Leon Carswell, her mother, Stella Gormley, brother, Jerry R. Hicks, and in laws, Robert Kimball and Minnie Nana Davis Carswell. She is survived by her children, Keith Carswell, Monroe; Karen & George M (Mike) Harrison, III, Covington; Jill & Tim James, Lilburn; grandchildren, Marianne & Aubrey Akin, Lennon Harrison, Travis & Rachel Harrison, Tara Harrison, Kye James, great grandchildren, Phillip & Wyatt Akin, AnnaClaire & Reed Harrison. Funeral Services will be held Friday August 22, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel with Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Wages & Sons.
