Martha Ann Sewell

Martha Ann Sewell of Stone Mountain passed away Saturday January 22, 2022 at the age of 81. Martha Ann was born November 25, 1940 and grew up in Stone Mountain and was a graduate of Avondale High School. She was employed at Safeguard Business Systems for a number of years. She was a lifelong member of Indian Creek Baptist Church where she was involved in Sunday School, Choir, Vacation Bible School, Youth and Basketball Ministry, and the women’s ministry. She also worked at Indian Creek part-time both at the Church’s School and in the main office. Martha Ann along with her late husband enjoyed Gospel Music, including many trips to “singings” around the South and all things Georgia Tech. Martha Ann and A. T. also especially enjoyed their time spent after church with their friends from Church around a table of food and fellowship. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her other hobbies including cross stitch and crochet as well as the ever present word search puzzle book.

Martha Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years; A.T. Sewell, parents Howell E., Ruby Alberta Freeman, brother Freddie O. Freeman, sister Janet Jones.

She is survived by her daughter Carole Tabb Stephens, son-in-law Glenn Stephens and grandsons Andrew Philip Stephens and James Nicolas Stephens and her brother Michael Freeman (Judy); sister-in-law Carolyn Freeman; brother-in-laws Leslie Sewell (Beverly) and Kim Sewell; nieces Vicki Foskey (Russell), Gina Carter (Johnny) Amy Reach (Kevin), Kelly Freeman, Ashley Sewell Fisher; nephews Alan Freeman (Nancy), Kenny Jones (Kim), Kyle Freeman and Les Sewell (Melissa), and by many cousins and great nieces and nephews. Martha Ann also had numerous friends that she made and cherished amongst the residents and staff at Magnolia Assisted Living in Grayson/Loganville as well as at Park Place in Monroe.

The service for Martha Ann will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Wages and Sons 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, 30083. Interment to follow at Corinth Cemetery in Stone Mountain. Friends are welcome to visit the family Wednesday, January 26, 2022 between 4PM – 8PM at Wages and Sons in Stone Mountain.
