Mary Charlotte Benton of Stone Mountain passed away March 5, 2020. She was born in Commerce, GA on March 9, 1926 to Ollie Samuel and Viola Holland Benton. She lost her mother as a teenager and helped raise her younger siblings before moving to Atlanta to continue her education. She began work at the Lovable Bra Plant until they closed the Atlanta Branch. She then began work with Piedmont Hospital and later worked with GA Federal where she eventually retired. She was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church and she loved to sew and garden. She is survived by her sister, Samuel Lynn Benton Hunt, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel with a Graveside Service at 2:00 pm at Grey Hill Cemetery in Commerce, Ga beside the First Baptist Church of Commerce. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Mary Charlotte Benton.
