With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Katherine Buck on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 61. Mary was born at Ft. Benning, Georgia and raised in a military family, living in multiple places including her favorites West Point, NY, Maryland, and Hawaii.
Mary was the beloved and devoted wife of Chris Buck for nearly 40 years. They were high school sweethearts who met at Moanalua High School in Honolulu and built a beautiful life and family together. She was a loving mother of two children – Kyle Buck and Kayla (Buck) Garrett. She was a proud “Maui” to her first grandchild Jude Garrett who was born in May.
Mary was warm, loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. She brightened every room she entered and was dedicated to those she loved. She never took a minute for granted, having been born with a congenital heart condition and being a breast cancer survivor. A woman of deep faith and compassion, she served others with kindness and humility.
Mary loved holidays and traveling with her family and friends. An avid sports fan, she cheered on the Arkansas Razorbacks, Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed tennis, golf and spoiling her pups and grandpups.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Donald H. Cline, and mother-in-law Neita D. Buck.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Chris Buck, her son Kyle Buck, her daughter Kayla Garrett and husband Josh Garrett and her grandson Jude Garrett. Additionally, she is survived by her mother Gloria Cline, sisters Jenny Campbell and Karen Jackson and brother Jeff Cline along with a multitude of other family and friends who will miss her deeply.
Services to honor Mary’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. A visitation will be held just prior to the service, beginning at 12:30PM.
Like her cheerful personality, her wish was for her service to be a celebration of life and for everyone to wear colorful and/or Hawaiian attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society .
