Mary Katherine “Katie” Forester, died in her home in Lawrenceville, GA on January 3, 2021. Youngest daughter of William Edward Forester and Claudia Campbell Forester, Katie was born on April 4, 1969. She grew up in the Sandy Springs area and attended Ridgeview and Riverwood High Schools. Her junior year the family moved to Lexington, VA where she graduated from Lexington High School in 1987. Katie went on to study psychology at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA followed by a Masters Degree from James Madison University in Elementary Education. She moved to the metro Atlanta area and started her career as an educator.
Katie loved her family and friends and never met a stranger. It was said of Katie many times, “She can talk to a fence post and walk away best friends.” She was a talented jewelry designer and certainly had an eye for style.
She is survived by her mother, Claudia Forester of Lawrenceville, GA, her sisters Susan Forester DeWyngaert (Tawes) of Pasadena, MD and Patricia Forester Lewis (Jeff) of Suwanee, GA, and her nieces and nephew, Rachel DeWygaert Workman (William, Louisa and Edward), Sarah DeWyngaert Bumgarner (Robert and Elizabeth), Laura Lewis Bailey (Daniel), Caroline Lewis and Tucker Lewis. She was preceded in death by her father, William Edward Forester.
A service of witness to the resurrection will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting to give to Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church, Katie’s church.
