Mary Ellen Peebles

Mary Ellen Peebles, known to her loved ones as Nonnie, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away at the age of 80.  She passed peacefully surrounded by her children and loved ones.  Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude (Weber) Maher and brother Paul Maher.  Mary Ellen is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Mark Dembicky of Brampton, Ontario; son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Gemma Peebles of Lawrenceville, Georgia; son Michael Peebles of Monroe, Ohio; grandchildren Matthew and Joshua Dembicky, of Brampton, Ontario; Lauren, Jack and Ryan Peebles of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Sarah Peebles of Monroe, Ohio.

Mary Ellen was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, and grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska.  After marriage, she moved to Georgia and spent her career caring for others as a Registered Nurse, working in the Emergency department at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.  She later moved into an administrative role at the hospital, improving processes in many departments.  After “retirement”, Mary Ellen was the owner of Piedmont Occupational Health Consultants, providing staff for first aid medical coverage to businesses and special events.

But what Mary Ellen cared and loved most of all was her family and friends.  She loved spending time with her many grandchildren, playing games, watching movies, or just hanging out.  She loved playing card games with her sons and going to the beach with her daughter.  Mary Ellen loved to garden and loved feeding the lost and lonely neighborhood cats. She had many lifelong friends and made new ones wherever she went.  She will be greatly missed by many.

The service to honor and celebrate the life of Mary Ellen Peebles will be held on Thursday, February 2, at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, Lawrenceville, Georgia.  Visitation will be from 11-1, followed by a service in the chapel at 1.
