Matthew Camden Haber, 21, was born on September 22, 2004, in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Dacula where he built a life full of curiosity, energy, and heart. Sadly, he passed away on February 16, 2026. He was diagnosed in 2015 with a brain tumor that progressed and became more aggressive by 2023. He endured many surgeries over the last ten years, including radiation, and chemotherapy in the last three years with unwavering determination to beat cancer. He not only wanted to beat cancer but wanted to overcome cancer faster and with more strength than his doctors could ever predict. The drive he had on the field was the drive he carried in his daily life. To push to be the best and exceed everyone’s expectations of him.
Matthew was intelligent, athletic, and endlessly curious about the world. He loved learning new things and pushing himself to master new skills. As a multi-sport athlete, he played baseball, football, and soccer. He thrived when he was on the field. Whether he was unicycling, playing music, working out daily, performing magic tricks, solving Rubik’s cubes, practicing the yo-yo, playing chess, or enjoying a game of poker, Matthew brought passion and focus to everything he did.
More than anything, Matthew will be remembered for the light he brought into the lives of those around him. His interests were many, but his presence—thoughtful, driven, and full of life—was what truly made him special.
He is survived by his parents, Kathy and Barry Haber; his sister, Christina Haber; his grandparents, Gordon and Alice Haber; his grandmother, Linda Healy; his uncle, Robert Healy Jr.; his aunt, Tara Healy; and his cousins, Callie, Averie, Jaime, Trey, and Lilly Healy; his great uncle Barry Joel Haber; his first cousins Janith and BJ Haber. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Jay Healy, Sr.
A viewing will be held on February 24, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m. at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home or donations may be made in Matthew’s name to the cancer program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Matthew’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
