Matthew Alexander Meason

Jan 12, 1977 — May 31, 2026

Matthew Alexander Meason passed away at his mother's home in his sleep on May 31, 2026.

Born to Walter David (Skipper) and Maribeth Meason on January 12, 1977, a bright, cold, sunny day, at Crawford W Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Matthew is survived by his children, Collin Alexander Meason and Makenzie Jasmarie Gilliland Meason; his mother, Maribeth Meason; his brother John Meason (with his wife, Krista, and children, Evelynn and Beau), his sister Katie Abercrombie (with her husband, John, and children, Wren and North); as well as many lifelong companions and devoted friends.

Matthew had a great love of music, sharing new tunes and going to shows. His favorites included Widespread Panic, The Grateful Dead, Phish and so many more. His newest interest was the Kitchen Dwellers. He loved spending time with the people who meant the most to him, listening, laughing and talking. Matthew was a huge fan of UGA football and the Atlanta Braves.

He worked for several years as an electrician and flipped houses in the Atlanta area.

He moved to north GA where he found employment at Samsung SDS America. He loved this work and his fellow employees. This was a big part of his new life, along with the friends that were part of a giant network of support and love.

Matthew was a gentle soul. He was a very kind-hearted person that would do or give all he had to anyone in need. He loved his friends and family unconditionally. We are grateful that he spent his last hours with his family, listening to music, talking about his life and laughing. It was a great night.

Arrangements were handled with respect by Wages & Sons Funeral Home and Creamatories, 1040 Main St., Stone Mountain, GA.
