Maudie Woodall Ivey

March 4, 1926 — April 8, 2013

Maudie Mae Woodall Ivey March 4, 1926 - April 8, 2013 Of Lilburn Georgia was called home by God Monday April 8, 2013 at the age of 87. Maudie was a faithful woman of God. She was born and raised in Meridian, MS. She was the fifth of seven children, which included her five sisters and one brother. She married a military man and they soon left the south for their journey across the U.S. and overseas. She joined the Eastern Stars and served the young in Okinawa. She started a career in civil service until the 70's and then became a nursing assistant, which was typical of her desire to always serve others.. Her passion was care taking, which included cooking for everybody. She loved to travel, fish and play cards. Her family was the most important part of her life, which extended well beyond her husband and children. She would drop everything to meet the needs of others. Her story telling was a great treat to all. She has left a great void in this world and will be missed for many years to come. The stories she leaves behind will be a great legacy for her great grandchildren and beyond. Maudie was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, of 66 years, Walter B. Ivey, her parents Henry and Anna Mae Woodall, her sisters Valdez Saxon and Polly Decker, her brother Cecile Woodall. She is survived by her five children, Joan Smith Walter, Walter Ivey Cindy, Talitha Mosley Preston, Althea Ivey-Boothe, Donna Casteel Tim, 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren and her sisters, Rosalee Stephens, Joyce Thornton and Patricia Jones.
