Midge Teresa Heredia

July 30, 1928 — December 8, 2013

Midge Teresa Sauer Heredia, 85, of Stone Mountain, Georgia went home to our Lord in her sleep on Saturday, December 7 following a heart attack at the home of her youngest daughter, Diane Heredia Sachs, in Herndon, Virginia. Midge was born in New York and traveled all over the world as the Army wife of Manuel "Matt" Heredia, Jr. Midge and Matt were married in 1952 and moved seventeen times in twenty-one years of Army life. She took great pride in being an Army wife, "the toughest job in the Army." Her lifelong friends know her from her church work at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Stone Mountain and from the ceramic shop at Ft. McPherson, Georgia. She also worked for eighteen years at Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), a job she was extremely proud of obtaining at the age of fifty. Her husband, Matt, predeceased her in 2004. Midge is survived by her three children, COL (Ret) Michael (Debbie) Heredia of Monument, Colorado; Delayne (Randy) McDonald of Roswell, Georgia; and Diane (Marc) Sachs of Herndon, Virginia. She was the proud grandmother of five: Jack (Sarah) McDonald of North Carolina; Elise Sachs of North Carolina; Kelly Sachs (Vince) Thiele of Virginia, Stephanie Heredia (Bruce) Hull of Missouri and Jessica Heredia (Gordon) Powers of Kansas. She loved her four great grandchildren: Grant, Victoria and Lucas Powers and Taylor Ann McDonald and treasured hearing about them and seeing the latest pictures. We are grateful to our mother for passing on the values of faith in God and service to our country. We hope to continue her lifelong example of caring for and serving others. She lived each day this way and we'll all miss her more than we can say. Visitation is Friday, December 13 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain. On Saturday, December 14, a funeral Mass will be offered at 1 pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 600 Mountain View Drive, Stone Mountain. Please join the family before Mass for a light lunch buffet served from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Stone Mountain Room at church. Interment will take place following Mass at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker
