Myrlene Cheek

February 20, 1925 — March 9, 2015

Mrs. Marlene C. Cheek, passed away on March 9, 2015, at DeKalb Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. She had resided in Stone Mountain, Georgia for many years but was a resident of the Meadowbrook Nursing Home for the past 14 years. She was a member of the Pinelake Baptist Church and was a past Matron of Juanita Chapter, Puerto Rico, Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Cheek held memberships in the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Stone Mountain Shrinettes. She was previously employed by the Avon Company where she received top awards for sales. She went on to work for Shepherd Realty, Norfolk, Virginia, and the United States Postal Service. She is preceded in death by her husband (Harold), sons, (Manson), (Richard) and (Christopher). She is survived by one son, Jeffrey B. Cheek (Mona), Orange Beach, Alabama; grandsons, Andrew and Brian Cheek of the Atlanta, Georgia, area; granddaughters, Christine Thunberg of San Diego, California and Shannon Smith of Seattle, Washington and two great granddaughters, Jenna and Aubrey of San Diego, California. She also is survived by two sisters, Ailene Drewry of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Emma Sue Howick of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Arrangements are as follows: Viewing and receiving to be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, Stone Mountain, Georgia, from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Funeral Service to be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, Stone Mountain, Georgia, at 11am, Thursday, March 12, 2015. Graveside service to be held at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, US 41 North, Marietta, Georgia, at 3pm, March 12, 2015.
